International Women’s Day, celebrated each year on March 8,
is a day honoring the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world. The day is also an opportunity to promote gender parity. According to its official website, International Women’s Day has been marked for well over a century, with the first March 8 International Women’s Day gathering supported by over a million people all over the Wolrd.
Today, International Women’s Day belongs to all women – and their allies – everywhere and is acknowledged around the world.
