5 gold medals for the BKKF National Team from the European Championships in Armenia

Bulgarian athletes brought 12 medals from the Championships in Armenia – 5 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze awards.

The talented athletes from the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation (BKKF) national team won 5 golden, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals at the European Championship, held on 26-27 October 2024 in Yerevan, Armenia. The Bulgarian national team impressed the jury and the audience with high martial skills and class performances. It deservedly ranked 3rd in the final team standings at the 36th KWF European Karate Kyokushin Championships in Armenia.

The young sporting hopes of the country showed a strong spirit and excellent preparation, with Aleksandra Ivanova winning the European title in the junior girls 16-17 years old in the category up to 60 kg and Marian Balabanov becoming the continental champion in the cadets 18-21 years old in the category up to 80 kg. In the men’s up to 90 kg category, the European gold medal went to Viktor Kolev. The European champion in the heavyweight category 90+ kg is Vasil Dimitrov. Among the women at the championships, in a contested competition from the representatives of the other countries, Monika Stoyanova won the European champion title in the 55 kg category.

Silver medals in girls were brought by Yoanna Dafinkchieva, junior girls 16-17 years old, and a cat. up to 50 kg; Raya Ivanova, girls 4-15 years and cat. 50+ kg. In the young women 18-21 in the 65+ kg cat. Hristiana Dimitrova won silver and a special award with a trophy for strong fighting spirit at the European Championships.

The bronze awards for our country were won by karatekas Dimitar Dimitrov /men, cat. up to 75 kg/, Nedzhmi Bozov /junior boys 16-17, cat. up to 80 kg/, Georgi Todorov /cadets 18-21, cat. up to 80 kg/ and Mihael Ivanov /boys 14-15, cat. up to 80 kg/. 75+ kg/.

BKKF expresses its sincere admiration for the hard work, sportsmanship, and worthy performance of all participants from the country who participated in the European Championships at the end of October. Congratulations on winning the titles, champions!
