Flashback: The old Karate Kyokushin rules (video)

Have you ever wondered what did Karate Kyokushin look like 30-40 years ago? What were the rules back then? How similar was it in comparison to nowadays?

Just like any other martial arts, Karate Kyokushin has also evolved during the years. Karatekas are getting faster and stronger with every single year and therefore the discipline is undergoing some changes.

Today millions of people around the world are practicing Karate Kyokushin, but do they know what the rules were in the 70s’ and 80s’?

Here is a glimpse of the Kyokushin rules back in 1985. Two of the biggest names in Karate Kyokushin – Switzerland’s Andreas Hug (three-time European Kyokushin Heavyweight Gold Medalist) and the Dutch Michel Wedel (5th dan in Karate Kyokushin and multiple European and Dutch heavyweight champion) are participating in the video, showcasing the good old regulations of Kyokushin.
