Jonathan González, a reference in Costa Rican karate, achieved a historic feat after winning the United States International Kyokushin Karate Championship for the fourth consecutive year.

In this same event, the Tico karateka Andrés Brenes stood out by obtaining first place in the underage heavyweight category.

One of the main characteristics of these tournaments is their high level of competition, where most fights end with a knockout.

Furthermore, karate fighters do not use protective equipment such as shin guards, gloves, helmets, or body protection during fights.
