Kyokushin-kan Russia: Seminar with Okazaki Hiroto Shihan

Kyokushin-kan karate and Hoshokai kobudo seminars

under the guidance of Kyokushin-kan supreme instructor Okazaki Hiroto will take place in Ryazan, Russia, on August 2 – 4, 2017

August 2 – 4, 2017 the Kyokushin-kan Karate-do Federation of Russia and the Russian Hosokai Organization will hold seminars on karate and kobudo (traditional weapons combat techniques) in Ryazan, Russia, under the guidance of Kyokushin-kan supreme instructor and the president of Hoshokai Kobudo Society shihan Okazaki Hiroto.

The Kyokushin-kan seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 2 – 4, 2017. It will be devoted to the study of karate and kobudo program of Kyokushin-kan International Karate-Do Organization with focus on bojutsu (stick fighting technique), saijutsu (the sai is a traditional piercing melee weapon used in Okinawa. The basic form of the weapon is that of a pointed, prong shaped metal baton, with two curved prongs projecting from the handle), tonfajutsu (the tonfa is a melee weapon of Okinawan martial arts. It consists of a stick with a perpendicular handle attached a third of the way down the length of the stick, and is about 15–20 inches long) and karate advanced katas. Dan-tests will not be held.

The Hoshokai kobudo seminar will be held from 3.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on August 2 – 4, 2017. It will be devoted to the study of the basic katas of two traditional Japanese schools of martial arts: Shinto Muso-ryu jodo (medium-sized stick) and Mugai-ryu Iai Hyodo (sword fencing technique), cultivated by the Hoshokai Kobudo Society, whose president is Kyokushin-kan shuseki shihan Okazaki Hiroto, who holds titles of soke (headmaster) in both Shinto Muso-ryu jodo (Shiokawa-ha) and Mugai-ryu Iai Hyodo. At the end of the seminar there will be examinations for Ryukyu kobujutsu, Shinto Muso-ryu and Mugai-ryu grades.

Four Japanese leading instructors are arriving in Ryazan to guide the seminars, including:

– Okazaki Hiroto – Kyokushin-kan International Kyokushin karate-do 8th dan and shuseki shihan, Shinto Muso-ryu Shiokawa-ha jodo the headmaster (soke) and 9th dan, Mugai-ryu Iai Hyodo the headmaster (soke) and 9th dan, Shito-ryu karate-do 8th dan, Ryukyu kobudo 8th dan.

– Ishijima Masahide – Kyokushin-kan karate-do 5th dan, Ryukyu kobudo 4th dan, Mugai-ryu Iai Hyodo 4th dan, 2005 Kyokushin-kan Kata World Champion.

– Kobayashi Hitomi – the multiple champion of Japan in Kyokushin-kan kata, 2009 Kyokushin-kan Kata World Champion, holder of master degrees in Kendo, Iaido and Jodo.

– Yokozawa Taku – 2017 Kyokushin-kan Kata World Champion, holder of master degrees in Iaido and Jodo.
